My son Steve’s sudden, unexpected death in the ICU ff. many years of a persistent cellulitis infection was an incomprehensible shock, leaving a deep void in my life.  About an hour after his passing at age 56 on Friday, Jan. 30, 2026, at 3:29 AM, I spent time with him in the bereavement room of the hospital, stroking his head, holding his hand, kissing him goodbye.  He looked handsome and finally at peace, no longer struggling with his emotional and physical problems.

Steve was a good, kind and generous person, “a nice man” (as one of his doctors described him); he never harbored a grudge against anyone and truly loved his parents, brother, cousins, uncles and aunts, niece & nephew, and showed genuine concern for the well-being of everyone he met.
