Vincent M. Tannacore, 79 of Westerleigh passed away on Tuesday, July 23, 2019 at Eger Nursing Home.
Born in Queens, he moved to Staten Island and became the Principal at Blessed Sacrament School as a member of De La Salle Christian brothers. Vincent married Ginny Lamagna in 1983 and continued to serve as a Catholic school principal in various schools, both in Staten Island and Brooklyn. He retired in 2012 after almost 50 years of dedicated service to the Catholic education.
Vincent enjoyed collecting baseball cards, golfing, bowling and spending time at Disney World and in Lavallette, NJ, he was also a member of the Knights of Columbus in Brooklyn.
Vincent is survived by his loving wife, Virginia (Ginny) nee Lamagna and he was a beloved brother to Donald (Emily) and Kenneth (Rita) Tannacore. He was also a fond Uncle to many nieces and nephews as well as great nieces and nephews.
The family wishes to especially thank the nurses and staff at Richmond University Medical Center and Eger Nursing Home (8th Floor).

Funeral from Cherubini McInerney Funeral Home on Friday at 9:15am with a Mass at Blessed Sacrament at 10:00am, followed by a burial at Moravian Cemetery. Viewing will be today, Thursday from 2-4pm and 7-9pm.

I am very sorry for your loss. I was with Vinnie at St Thomas the Apostle School in Harlem. At that time we were both Christian Brothers and I was the Director of that community. Vinnie and the other brothers who were there at the time were great teachers and had a strong commitment to working with the poor. I have only wonderful memories of working with Vinnie. I regret that I was unable to keep up with Vinnie after that time. May he rest in Peace!
Mr Tannacore was instrumental in helping me to get my first teaching job. I worked as a sub for him during college and taught at the CCD program he ran at Regina Pacis. He was a wonderful person and will be truly missed ❤️

I am sorry to hear of Vinnie’s passing. I was in community with Vinnie as a brother at St. Thomas starting in 1969. St. Thomas was my first assignment in the brothers and Vinnie was a terrific coach for me in learning how to teach and how to live in a religious community.
Let me tell you something about this person, “Brother Vincent”!! Great person, great man and a genuine person!! I loved around the corner from the Brother’s house and delivered the newspaper to their place.. I saw him everyday and the became a student in his SS class.. Brother Vincent was a class act through and through, he was my basketball coach and always liked me, don’t get me wrong , he gave me his infamous POKE in the chest, but was fair and , like I say, a genuine great man!!
