Lorraine Tomlinson Bell passed away on May 3 at the age of 96. She was born on October 2, 1927, in Staten Island. She graduated from Port Richmond high school and began work at Brewer Dry Docks.

Lorraine Bell and her husband David were the proprietors of Tomlinson’s Hardware. Lorraine’s parents founded the Mariners Harbor business in 1935. After raising their two daughters, Bonnie Nalwasky and Donna Haxton, Lorraine returned to part-time work assisting the family business.

A lifelong member of Summerfield Methodist Church, Lorraine was an active volunteer for their fundraising dinners and working at their resale shop, Attic Treasures. Mrs. Bell also volunteered at Snug Harbor Cultural Center, Meals on Wheels, In lieu of flowers donations to Meals on Wheels of SI and Have a Heart Association appreciated.

Her beloved husband David passed away in 2010 after 62 years of marriage. Together they enjoyed extensive travel to Europe, Asia, Caribbean and the USA.

In addition to their daughters, she leaves behind sons-in-laws William Nalwasky, Kenneth Haxton, grandchildren Kimberly Borges (Gabriel), Kristen Creech (Michael), Keith Haxton (Jenna), Russell Haxton (Darlene). Seven Great grandchildren, Rebecca Borges, Nicholas Borges, Kayla Creech, Emma Creech, Bentley Haxton, Oliver Haxton, Lincoln Haxton and her wonderful Aids Khatuna (Tina) and Ia.
