Lillian M. McGee, nee Decker, 81 sadly passed away after a brief illness on Saturday, July 10, 2021 at Richmond University Medical Center.

Born and raised in Staten Island, Lillian worked as a substitute teacher while raising her children and pursuing her Master’s Degree in Education from St. John’s University as well as receiving her BA from St. Peter’s College. Lillian worked as a second grade teacher at P.S.45 for nearly 22 years. She spent 45 years volunteering and serving in many forms at St. Micheal’s and St. Clement’s Parish. She was a proud native Staten Islander.

Lillian was an avid traveler having visited with her husband most of the 50 states including Hawaii and Alaska as well as parts of Asia, Europe and Australia.  She also enjoyed quick getaways to Atlantic City as well as trips to many parts of NJ, NY, CT, and PA. Lillian was very active with the NY Organ Donors Association and the Juvenile Diabetes Association.

Lillian was predeceased by her parents, Henry and Marie Decker, her son Edward J. McGee, Jr., her brother, Robert Decker, her son-in-law, Ivan Hernandez and brother in law, Anthony Olivieri.

She is survived by her loving husband of 55 years, Edward J. McGee, Sr., her children, Maureen (Thomas) Van Dusky, Marie (Ignacio) Robledo, Nancy Hernandez, Lt. Col. Dennis (Christine Arzt-) McGee, Lillian (David) Languilli.

She is also survived by her grandchildren, Colleen Van Dusky, Lizzie Robledo, Claire and Claudia Languilli, Christina and Chloe Hernandez, Ryan and Maggie Arzt-McGee. Also survived by her brother Henry (Ruth) Decker Jr. and sister, Dorothy Olivieri.  Lillian is also survived by 14 more brother and sister-in-laws on the McGee side of her family and dozens of nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.

She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.  

Funeral will be on Friday, July 16, 2021 at Cherubini McInerney Funeral Home, 1289 Forest Ave. at 9:15am with a Mass at St. Michael’s R.C. Church at 10:00am followed by a burial at Moravian Cemetery. Visitation for family and friends will be on Thursday from 2-4pm & 7-9pm.

    Many years have oassed since we were colleagues at PS 45, but Lillian’s lovely smile remains in my memory.

    Sincere condolences to the McGee family on Lillian’s passing.I worked at P44 which the children attended . She was a lovely and gracious lady with a beautiful family which we all got to enjoy. My thoughts are with you all.
