Jean R. Comello, 88, passed away on Tuesday, September 26, 2023 at Richmond University Medical Center in Staten Island, NY. Jean was born in Bronx, NY and raised in Brooklyn, NY, later moving to Staten Island, NY to raise her family. She was employed by the New York City Department of Environmental Protection for many years. She was also a School Crossing Guard in Staten Island.
She enjoyed painting, dancing, singing, fashion, beauty routines and classic movies from Hollywood\’s golden age. Her smile, personality and joy lifted up everyone she came across. Spending time with her grandchildren was most important to her and she cherished those moments deeply. Jean will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Jean was predeceased by her parents, Michael and Antoinette Emma (nee Visali); her husband, Carlo Comello; her brother, Frank Emma, her sister, Marie Caruso (nee Emma) and her grandchild, Keith Carrubba. She is survived by her children Victoria Carrubba and her husband Paul, Paul Carrubba and his wife Barbara; her grandchildren, Melanie Alfano (nee Deats) and her husband Joe and Mark Carrubba; her great grandchildren, Logan Alfano and Xavier Carrubba; her sister Particia Leto (nee Emma); and by several nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members and friends.
There will be a Celebration of Life Memorial held on Wednesday, October 4, 2023 from 4:00pm to 8:00pm at Cherubini McInerney Funeral Home, 1289 Forest Avenue, Staten Island, NY 10302. A blessing from Father will be performed at 7:00pm.
