Eva Soberal

On March 1, 2023, a beautiful soul, Eva Soberal, passed away peacefully at home with her family.  She was 89 years old.   

Born in Humacao, Puerto Rico on October 13, 1933 to parents Juana Ramos Torres and Edelmiro Gerena Ruiz, Eva was the youngest of five children.  She had two brothers (Guadalupe & Luis) and two sisters (Teresa & Zoraida) who she will now join in the heavens above.  She had a loving upbringing and always had stories to tell of her childhood.  She came to New York as a teenager to live with her sister, Zoraida and a few years later met William Soberal (her husband to be) through a mutual friend.  This beautiful couple came together as one on December 19, 1953 and later had two children Eva and William Jr (deceased).

Eva was a strong and talented woman.  She loved to dance especially the Flamenco, was an excellent seamstress, a wonderful cook and overcame many struggles over the years.  She was loved by her family and friends for the loving and sincere person that she was.  She treated everyone with kindness and respect.  Eva was an exceptional wife of 69 years and was passionate about the love she had for her husband.  She was a mother who cared deeply for her children and family.  

Eva is survived by her husband William, daughter Eva Johnson (Wayne), her grandchildren William Garcia III, Hector Rivera III, Arielle Rose Rivera, Jennifer Monique Soberal and great grandson William Garcia Jr.  She is also survived by many family members who she loved dearly.  She will now be reunited with her precious son Willy and will be at peace with God.
