Edwin John Lohr
April 23, 1938 – September 12, 2025
Edwin John Lohr, 87, of New Brighton in Staten Island, NY passed away peacefully on September 12, 2025. Born and raised in Concord, he later settled in New Brighton after marrying his beautiful bride, Rosemarie Crescitelli.
Edwin graduated from New Dorp High School, Class of 1955. He proudly served his Country in the United States Army. After returning from France, he began his career of approx. 35 years as a Journeyman Electrician with Fischbach & Moore and was a member of Local Union 3.
Edwin was an avid fisherman and loved nature. He always had a pet around and valued their company. After his retirement, Edwin and his wife Rosemarie became snowbirds, splitting their time between Staten Island and Deerfield Beach, Florida for over 20 years. During those years they went on several Cruises and vacations through the US and Caribbean Islands. They loved Hawaii and wanted to go back again.
Edwin had a remarkable green thumb and loved tending to his garden with care and shared its bounty with family and friends. A devoted student of history and a lifelong reader, Edwin was so advanced in Grammar School he actually skipped a grade and let his children know that quite often.
Above all, Edwin was a dedicated family man and great provider. He was the beloved Son of the late Seldon and Hilda Lohr (nee Mink); brother of the late Seldon Lohr Jr. and Eileen Murray.
Edwin is survived by his beautiful and loving wife Rosemarie Lohr (nee Crescitelli) of 60 years who he was blessed with. from God. He is also survived by his children, Valerie Pilla, Lydia Morse, and Edwin Jr., his Son-in-law Joseph Pilla and Daughter-in-law Barbara Lohr (nee Quinn) and his eight Grandchildren, David, Joseph, Lauren, Frank, James, Sophia, Ella, and Christian, who knew him affectionately as “Pop Pop.” He was also a caring uncle to many nieces and nephews.
The family takes comfort in knowing that Edwin, after many years, found his way to Christ and that his wife Rosemarie who is suffering with Alzheimer’s will be so happy to see him again in Heaven.
Friends will be received on Thursday September 18, 2025 from 4:00 – 8:00PM including a service at 6:30PM at Cherubini McInerney Funeral Home 1289 Forest Ave S.I., N.Y. 10302. Burial will take place September 19, 2025 at 11:00am, Fairview Cemetery 1852 Victory Blvd S.I., N.Y. 10314
