Donald was a lifelong resident of Staten Island and was raised in Westerleigh. He was the youngest child of the late Elizabeth and Frederick Morio. He graduated from Port Richmond High School in 1954, and then worked at several companies including Bethlehem Steel, General Motors Corp., and the Ford Motor Co. He also served in the United States Army for 2 years. In 1963, Donald began his career as an FDNY firefighter and served with the department for 34 years before retiring in 1997.
He was a loving husband to Joanne (nee Cascioli), who preceded him in death in 2011. Together they shared 47 years of marriage and he remained devoted to her ever after. He was a faithful parishoner of Holy Family Roman Catholic Church for over 45 years. Donald was an avid fan of baseball, supporting the
Donald is survived by his daughter, Lisa McDonald, son-in-law Dan McDonald, and two adoring grandchildren,
Donald will be remembered by all for his lifelong dedication to his family, his infectious work ethic, and his kindness and helpfulness to all. May he rest in peace.

My deepest condolences to you and your family Lisa. I knew your father from Holy Family RC Church along with your Aunt Bee. I just wanted to share with you that he was a very proud Dad. He used to rave about how wonderful you are. He told me so much about you and how much he loved his daughter.
Lisa, Mom and Dad are together now. Everyone knew how much your father loved your mother. I hope knowing that they are dancing up in Heaven and looking down on you will bring you comfort.

So sorry to hear of Mr. Morio’s passing. If we had known sooner, we would have paid our respects. He was not only a repeated customer of ours, but he visited our office at times, just to say hello. We had many interesting conversations with him, and he was quite a remarkable person. With a very strong will, his determination and exceptional endurance propelled him to be active well into his 80’s. As an avid runner, we’d see the likes of him all over the neighborhood; and I am sure he was an inspiration to many. We will miss his visits and seeing him run past the office for sure. May you know the essence of who he was remains eternal, and may you hold dear your beautiful memories.
