It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Ricardo Salazar on June 15, 2024. Born on February 21, 1944, in Victoria de Las Tunas, Cuba, to Ricardo Salazar Gonzalez and Caridad Montero de la Cruz, Ricardo was one of eight siblings who grew up in a vibrant and loving family.

In 1980, Ricardo made the brave decision to migrate to the United States, seeking a better life for himself and his family. As a skilled carpenter, he built not only homes and structures but also a foundation of love and support for his loved ones. Ricardo was a man of integrity and selflessness, always putting his family\’s needs above his own and providing for them without expecting anything in return.

Ricardo is survived by his four children: Ricardo, Mercedes, Matthew, and Patrick Salazar, each of whom carries forward his legacy of strength and love. Ricardo\’s deep faith in God guided him throughout his life, and he lived by a strong moral code of respect and dignity. He faced every challenge with courage and resilience, always holding his head high.

Beyond his work, Ricardo was a man of many talents and interests. He was a skilled baseball player, a passionate singer, and a connoisseur of the arts, history, and politics. His ability to captivate and inspire others with his words was remarkable, and his energy was truly infectious. Ricardo had a heart full of compassion, always ready to defend and care for those in need.

Ricardo’s life was a testament to the power of love, faith, and perseverance. He touched the hearts of many and left an indelible mark on everyone who knew him. His legacy will live on in the memories of his family and friends, who will forever cherish the time they had with him.

A memorial service to celebrate Ricardo’s life will be held on July 6th, 2024 at St. Johns Lutheran Church – 216 Jewett Avenue, Staten Island, NY 10302. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Ricardo\’s memory to De La Salle Academy. ( https://www.dlsanyc.org )

Rest in peace, Ricardo Salazar. Your spirit and love will continue to guide us, and you will forever be in our hearts. We love you.

      I am so sorry for the loss of your father. My deepest condolences to Patrick, Matthew, Evelyn, family and friends. RIP Ricardo. I remember Ricardo as charming and a great cook. My father Rolando was able to meet him and liked him. Two Cubanos vibing. May God bring you all comfort and strength.

    I want to offer up deep condolences to the loved ones of Ricardo he was always kind to me . What I remember he was full of life and it was never a dull moment with him with his stories and laughter . He was larger than life
    He loved my daughters, laughed with joy when He saw them ! Loved his food he could cook! One thing I know he loved the Word of God ! He is now reciting to the Lord His Word! We’ll see you up there passed those big pearly gates of Heaven ! Prayers & Hugs to all the families during this time of grief !

  3. Un ser humano excepcional donde los haya. Tuve el honor de conocerlo cuando su hijo Patrick estuvo en mi escuela, un padre dedicado como pocos. Aún a día de hoy, después de tantos años, los pongo a Pat y a su padre como ejemplos de superación, dignidad, ética del trabajo impecable y buen sentido del humor. Un hombre que tenía claro sus principios y que se los supo inculcar a su hijo. Quedan pocos como él. Dios lo va a tener de su mano, sin duda. Mi más sentido pésame para todos sus familiares.
