Edith Carannante

December 12, 1924 ~ April 11, 2024

Edith Carannante, of Staten Island, passed away peacefully on April 11, 2024, at the age of 99. Edith, affectionately nicknamed “Teeny” by her father, and later “Tina” by friends and family, was born in Wyoming, Pennsylvania on December 12, 1924. She resided there until she finished high school, and at age 18, relocated with family to Staten Island, a place she truly loved.

Only a few years later, she met Gerald “Jerry” Carannante, the man she would marry, in the produce section at the A&P on Port Richmond Avenue. They married and spent the next 72 years together. Teeny worked most of her career as a secretary for a prominent insurance company in Manhattan. Some of her favorite things in the world were cooking, shopping, visiting her brother’s family on Long Island, and her grandchildren.

Teeny was preceded in death by her husband Gerald, and her most cherished son, Jerry. She is survived by her daughter-in-law, Denise, her grandchildren, Ray (Leslie), and Jerry (Alia), and her great grandchildren, Holden, Luca and Nico. Her legacy of loyalty and love of family will live on in us all.

We are so saddened by the loss of our aunt Teeny. We will hold all of our best memories close to our hearts today and always. Love to Ray, Leslie, Denise, Jerry and Alia and the great grandchildren. We were all so lucky to have had her in our lives

Teenie was my mom’s (Lena Picarelli Terracino) best friend back in the day in Wyoming PA. So much so that my mom moved to Staten Island with when she was 17. I’ll never forget how important Teenie was to my mother for all those years. May she rest in peace.
