Elizabeth Morisi

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Elizabeth Morisi, our loving mother and friend to all whose lives she touched, on Friday, October 28, 2022.

Elizabeth devoted her life to her late husband, Donald, and children, Terry, Julie, and Scott.  She was a strong woman, a survivor of breast cancer, as well as many other challenges.  Those challenges never stopped her from always being there for her family and spending time with her grandchildren.

Elizabeth grew up in Brooklyn with her parents, Stanley and Josephine Defato, and siblings, Barbara, Patricia, Kathy, and James.  When Elizabeth’s children were young, she worked very hard outside the home while being an exceptional wife and mother at the same time.

Elizabeth enjoyed planning trips with her siblings and their spouses to many destinations, including Hawaii, one of her favorites.  She loved spending time in the Poconos with her daughter, Julie, her husband, Sal and their children, Jaclyn, Chris & Nicole and all of her many nieces and nephews. She also enjoyed taking many trips to visit her son, Terry and his family.

In her later years, Elizabeth valued all of the relationships she built with her neighbors at The Tides.  Between the book club, bingo, and all of the other many activities, there was always something to look forward to and she really loved her time there.

Elizabeth cared deeply for her family, friends and neighbors. She was a generous and loving person who always was the first to help someone in need.  She always thought of others before herself.

A visitation will be held at Cherubini McInerney Funeral Home in Staten Island, NY on Sunday, November 6th, 2022, from 4 to 8 p.m.  It will be followed by a burial at Ocean View Cemetery right after a service at the funeral home on November 7th, 2022, 10:30 a.m.

My Dear Sweet Cousin Elizabeth and family.
I was very sad to hear of her passing. My deepest sympathy. I recall fondly visiting her so often at her job in Rockefeller Center, when I worked a few blocks from her. We always gossiped about our crazy family. Living on Staten Island when Scott was growing up, being the same age as my son Greg, we used to spend so many times together at sporting events – watching the boys play basketball and baseball – those were fun times. She was very special to my Mother and they were very close. Over the years we always stayed in touch. She was one of the few cousins to always connect to me. One of the best memories of a memorable event will always be the trip we took upstate with her and Donald and my sister Lucy to Cousin Nettie’s and George’s 50th Wedding Anniversary. Elizabeth was a very special person, proud Mother and Grandmother and always spoke with love of the family. Loved her Mother and Father and Siblings beyond measure. Truly a kind and gentle soul. She will be missed. Rest in Peace Liz.
    Love Cousin Lorraine

My deepest sympathy in the passing of my sweet special cousin Elizabeth. Over the years we always managed to stay in touch. Many happy memories shared of watching our boys play sports on Staten Island when Scott and my son Greg were in school. We used to see each other every weekend and share memories of the family. A special memory was the time we went to Cousin Nettie’s 50th wedding anniversary with Don, Liz and my sister Lucy.
She was a very special person, mother, wife, daughter and sister. I will miss her and very sad for her passing. My sympathy to Terry, Julie and the family. RIP LIZ.
Love Cousin Lorraine, Rudy Lettieri and family.

To Terry and Julie +fam, I’m so sorry for your lose.
I have a lot of GOOD memories of summers spent on Buckhill rd. Always making a big breakfast, then to the Pool or the lake, and patching up all my scrapes and bruises from all the stupid crap me and my brothers use to do. I didn’t realize it than, but taking me and my brothers for weeks at time seems insane to me now, I’m very appreciative of Aunt Liz and your father visiting me at the hospital multiple times when i got into my accident and checking in on me after.
    R.I.P. Aunt Elizabeth

    Dear Terry, Julie and family,
We are saddened and shocked to hear of Liz’s passing. We have such fond memories of traveling with them on several occasions. She was always a dedicated wife and mother who loved the family. Liz was a real trooper when we went hiking in Sedona and. British Columbia despite having trouble walking. She surprised herself as well as us when we finished several nice hikes. We will remember her caring jovial personality and pray that she may Rest In Peace with Donald and Scott. Sorry we were unable to be at the service, but know she is in our hearts.
    With sincere sympathy,
