Emil Galante, known to everyone as Butch, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 18, 2021 after a four year battle with pancreatic cancer, in his home with his beloved wife Lauren by his side. Born on November 2, 1948 on Staten Island, Butch attended Our Lady Queen of Peace School and then was part of the first graduating class to complete four years at Monsinor Farrell High School in 1966. He then attended Florida Institute of Technology before following his dream and starting his own business in 1977. As a contractor Butch built Galante Home Improvement, Inc. from the ground up and continued to own and operate it for almost forty years. He was both well-known and well respected in the business community on Staten Island, helping countless people make a house into a home. He was a proud, active member of the BUCKS business group, participating in their events throughout his life, as well as a board member of several charitable organizations, most recently Meals On Wheels.
As with most things in his life Butch’s greatest strength was building relationships, a legacy that will be reflected upon by those who knew him.
Butch Galante’s memory will always be cherished by his wife Lauren and her daughter Danielle Xiao Xian Kane, his daughters Jean and Laura, his brother Anthony, former wife and friend Mary, his nephews Paul and Anthony, his great niece Madison, and his in laws Donna, Nancy, Paul, Adam, and Marvin. He was adored by his six grandchildren, Isabella, Nicholas, Matthew, Gabrielle, Abigail, and Charlotte.

Butch will always be remembered for his kindness to others, his charismatic personality, and his wonderful smile! We were blessed to have known him for over 10 years. He will be sorely missed but we all know he is in a much better place now.
Those of us who occasionally get together to remember our years at Msgr Farrell and catch up will surely miss Butch for all the good cheer he provided at those gatherings. We loved him and will miss him, as we are sure his family will. God bless him and all those who had the pleasure and good fortune to know him.
Just wanted to express my deepest sympathy in the loss of your treasured dad and husband. From the sister of Joan and Dom! They always talked so highly of him and I only wished that I had gotten the chance to meet him. Rest in peace.
Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.
Butch was one of two contractors who saved our house after we fired a bad one. We loved him. He was kind and gentle, easy to work with, always fair and honest. We recommended him to many friends and neighbors.
We’re so sorry to hear of his passing.
We will remember him fondly, always.
