Final Diane Ducey

Diane Ethel Ducey, 58, and proud 5th generation Staten Islander passed this week.

She is survived by her best friend and husband, William Murphy and her two step families, including children Bill Jr., and T.J., daughters in law Dawn and Jen and grandchildren Kaitlyn, Jenna, Aimee, Gelisse, Jack, and Isabella.

Diane was a friend to all and loving counselor to everyone in her family.  She put her life plans on hold to dedicate herself to the care and happiness of her parents and mother-in-law in their final years and was a devoted aunt to her niece and nephew.

A proud member of the Ancient Order of the Hibernians, she worked tirelessly to raise money for worthy causes. She was also a staunch champion of Staten Island and her family’s roots in Newfoundland, Canada, often returning to visit relatives. She loved living next to the ocean in Long Beach but also was an avid RV’er with her husband, spending as much as they could each year traveling across America or camped in Saugerties, N.Y, which became like a second home to them.

She loved a challenge and never stopped learning or trying new things.  She had many hobbies she pursued passionately, including reading, writing, and cooking.  She was a published author (under D.E. Ducey) and her “alchemy” in the kitchen was renown.  She was a huge music and concert lover and loved seeing new places, making new friends, the mountains, oceans, the boardwalk and campfires.  She was funny, fierce and fun and will be greatly missed.

Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday at 7pm at Cherubini McInerney Funeral Home, 1289 Forest Avenue.  Family and Friends are invited for viewing from 4-8pm Tuesday.  Private Cremation.
