John Fleming, 76, a native Staten islander and longtime resident of Graniteville, died on Sunday, October 4th, 2020. He grew up in New Brighton, and graduated from Curtis High School in 1961.
He was employed by the New York Department of Sanitation for over thirty years, retiring in 1992.
John was always interested in cars and enjoyed working on his own vehicles over the years. He found pleasure in feeding the birds and squirrels on the balcony of his apartment, and providing food for the two neighborhood cats he befriended.
John is survived by his son, John J. Fleming, his daughter, Faith Ann Paccione, and five Grandchildren, as well as by his former wife, Faith Gollinello. He is survived also by his brother Francis Fleming, and his sisters, Elizabeth Tiedemann and Carol Schembre. His brother, James Fleming died in 2017.
In lieu of flowers, friends may send a donation to a local or national food bank.
