T. Dean Curry

In Loving Memory of Dean Curry

Dean Curry, born and bred on Staten Island, was a beloved mainstay in his community, where he lived most of his life in the same home. For more than 60 years, he devoted his time, energy, and enthusiasm to the betterment of Staten Island. His interests were wide-ranging, and he was often front and center at events supporting countless causes, always willing to lend his time, his voice, or a helping hand.

Dean built a successful career in international banking, a field in which he was a natural. His profession opened doors to many opportunities and allowed him and his wife, Colette, to travel with their two sons. He had an exceptional understanding of finance and was rarely far from his computer when the markets were open. He was also a generous and knowledgeable resource to anyone who sought his advice.

Although he never served in the military, Dean found his own way to serve those who did. For 15 years, he volunteered every Tuesday at the Fort Hamilton USO, giving his time faithfully and without fanfare.

Dean was an altruist in every sense of the word. He was especially proud to have donated 65 pints of blood over the years, a commitment he continued until chemotherapy made it impossible.

Above all, Dean was a devoted husband, proud father, and adoring grandfather. He and Colette shared 55 years of marriage, building a home where their children—and later their grandchildren—always found love, security, guidance, and a place to belong. He was a stickler for table manners, a detail that those who knew him will surely remember with a smile.

Dean fought a hard and courageous battle with illness, and throughout it all, he remained, in the words of those who cared for him, “a favorite patient.” His warmth, spirit, and appreciation for others touched everyone around him.

Dean was predeceased by his parents, Thomas P. Curry and Katherine Kempton Curry. He is survived by his beloved wife of 55 years, Colette; his only sibling, Ann Leslie DiGiacomo; his sons, Jerem and Todd Curry; and their respective families.

Dean made it his mission to remain close to his extended family, and he was an extraordinary friend to so many. His passing leaves a loss of great magnitude for his family and all who knew him. Yet, in the midst of that loss, they take comfort in the countless memories of the love, laughter, generosity, and joy he brought into their lives.

Dean lived a life of service, devotion, friendship, and love. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
