A newbie to the Hunter College English department I was immediately taken in hand, shown the ropes, and–almost best of all–told all the secrets about how to get immediately needed films and videos from a less-than-visually-present Hunter audio visual department. A lovely man, a true colleague, and a font of film facts worthy of a Jeopardy champion.
Thom was the heart and soul of the Hunter College English Department for so many years, taking care of everything and everyone in his quiet, super-efficient way — a creative spirit, a gentle soul, a good friend, a polymath, and a loving partner to his husband Wayne. May he rest in peace, and may Wayne find comfort from all those who loved Thom.
My deepest condolences to the entire family, may he Rest in Heavenly Peace
Thom appeared to be so healthy and vibrant, and he had a zest for life and his photography. It really hits that life is transient, and we never really know what the future holds no matter how well a person takes care of themselves.
I talked to Thom fairly regularly. We went to high school together in Rhinebeck, NY. We are both originally from Staten Island, and I loved the photos that he took on the island. I was happy to see that it wasn’t all developed, the way that my grandfather’s land became developed (LaTourette Golf Course, Staten Island College, churches, and subdivisions).
Thom was a great photographer. He captured so much more in his photos… the feeling of peace, tranquility… a higher power. I’m very sad that he departed so soon, and I will miss him. Love & Light to You, Thom.

Sorry to learn of Tom’s passing, I knew him as a fellow volunteer at the Loews Jersey Theater in Jersey CITY, N.J. he was usually working on the chairs or arm rests and movie shows.My condolences to his family and friends! R.I.P., Pete Cullen
