April 15, 1939 ~ October 21, 2025
On October 21, 2025, Jane transitioned. Born on April 15, 1939, she was the cherished daughter of Ola Mae and William Pervis Ivey.
Jane was a dedicated mother who spent many years working on Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C., as a congressional secretary. She relocated to Staten Island, New York, to be with her daughter and the loves of her life, her grandchildren, Paige and Carl.
Embracing her new life as a New Yorker, Jane enjoyed overfeeding her cat and beloved dog Guvanci. She enjoyed meeting new people and experiencing the excitement of fast city living, including Broadway shows.
Jane now joins her parents, siblings, June Butler and Eugene Wright, in eternal rest. She leaves behind a loving family: her daughter Sonja Hatcherson, brother Arnold Butler, sister Marsha James, grandchildren Paige and Carl Allen, nephews and nieces Rodney, Jerome, Jasmine, and Sheemica, great nieces and nephews, Jasmine, Raven, Jessica, Ch’Mari Jayden, Jordan, great, great niece Layla, Aunts, Patti Patrick and Dorothy Gibson, along with many cousins. Heartfelt thanks to the caregivers in Georgia and New York, and special friends Ann, Allegra, and Adriene. Jane will be remembered for her demeanor, style, and tenacity.
